A LEADER IN THE BUILDING INDUSTRY FOR OVER 20 YEARS

What is a Steel Container Cover ?

A container cover is a pre-engineered steel roof installed over two or more shipping containers, turning unused space into covered storage, a workshop, or equipment shelter — without pouring a foundation or filing for a full building permit in most municipalities.

Arch-style covers use a curved, clear-span design with no interior beams or trusses. The curve sheds snow and wind load naturally, making it the standard choice across Canada’s harsher climates.

Straight-wall covers offer a more traditional roofline with greater usable height at the walls, better suited to workshops or spaces where you need to stand upright right to the edge.

Covers are available from 20 ft up to 60 ft in width, built to any length, and engineered to Canadian snow and wind load codes — not adapted from a US spec. See pricing →

Do I need a permit for a container cover?

Requirements vary by municipality, so it’s worth a quick check with your local building department before ordering. We can provide engineering drawings to support your permit application if needed.

How much does a container cover cost in Canada?

Pricing depends on several factors including width, length, roof style, and your local building requirements. Snow load ratings, wind load specifications, and elevation all affect the engineering of your cover. CNC Container Covers builds every kit to meet your site-specific conditions. Contact us for a fast, no-obligation quote — most customers receive pricing within 24 hours

How long does installation take once my kit arrives?

Most covers go up in a few days to a week once your kit is on site, depending on width and crew size. We’ll walk you through what to expect for your specific setup when we quote your project.

Are container covers potable? Can they be taken down and moved?

Yes — because covers mount directly to the containers instead of a poured foundation, the whole structure can be disassembled and relocated whenever your containers move. That’s a real advantage over a permanent building: your covered space moves with your operation, not the other way around.

Can I add insulation, doors, or ventilation to my cover?

Yes — covers can be fitted with man doors, sliding service doors, insulation, and ventilation depending on how you’re using the space. Let us know your use case and we’ll build it into your quote.
